Review:

 

Paul's paintings tackle deeply felt emotional states head-on with simplicity and directness. His canvases have a rich colorful palette reminiscent of folk art while at the same time the iconic images have a mysterious and psychically surreal quality. The painted in titles are like signage reminding the viewer there is more going on than the placid image itself. The result is a subtle tension between an essential peacefulness of the image and it's unstated backstory.
